Tax invoice

A tax invoice is an invoice issued by a GST- or VAT-registered business that meets the tax authority's content rules, so the buyer can claim back the tax charged.

It typically shows the words "tax invoice", the seller's tax number, a unique number and date, what was sold, and the tax rate and amount — plus the buyer's details above a threshold or on B2B sales. Businesses that aren't registered issue a regular invoice instead.
